In progress fun

Hey guys,

I am just starting my final project for Water based media which I am so excited for! I started with a layer of insulation foam and then covered it in matte medium. (Stole that idea from a brilliant artist in my oil based class last quarter.) No color yet but I can't wait to show you!

Here's the progress on my self portrait, I was there till 3am last night. Probably my night again tonight, good thing I love to paint! No where near finished...

A day in the park

Here are some watercolors for water based media, just quick landscapes and nothing too formal.

1,000 heads in the making

So Michael Buffington created a group of artists called Drawaholic's Anonymous and also put us up to the challenge of drawing 1,000 heads. Currently there are only 5 people who have completed the task. I plan on making that 6. (MB- I can do it!)

Here is my very slow but steady start.

Self Portrait

Hey everyone!

Here is the start of my self portrait for life painting. It is a full figure between 3/4-life size on a 4x4 ft canvas. Let me know what you think so far, this is just my first layer over the under-painting and I tend too push the colors so I know that right now they are a little rich.

Dresses Galore

I like to make things, sewing is fun though I am not very skilled at it.
Here is a skirt I made out of ties
I made my own prom dress.

A duct tape dress which is modeled by the lovely Lauren Masterson.

When the bird sings

Hey everyone,

Here is the latest progress on my in class life painting!

Unfortunately our model had to leave us part way through the assignment so now we have no reference to finish... lets cross our fingers and hope we can come up with a solution.

I am about half way done with my second pass of glazes, pushing the golds and olives in the torso as well as the tangerine pink in the hand. Just put in a rough background.

I just stumbled upon a great artist with an awesome little comic that just drew me in by Ola Olsen Lysgaar. Here is the link: http://olalys.com/gallery/fuglesang.php

Love you madly

Hey guys!

Currently obsessed with CAKE's song Love you madly, new ring tone. No other reason for the title.

Here is my a la prima in class still life, we had to do it in a one 2 hour class period. I'm pretty happy with the result despite the fact that me and acrylic paint don't usually get along.

It was all about capturing the "feeling" of the objects and letting the paint "do it's thing" as Jason Holesher puts it.

Here are some gestures for fun. Hoping to get out of action analysis and take 2D animation in the fall!
Let me know what you think!

Seeing Red

Here is a quick self portrait I did, it was supposed to be a study for life painting but I got a bit carried away and had some fun with it!

Here is another self portrait I did a while ago in a printmaking class at the Academy of Art University Summer program.

Here are some more pics from the Sidewalk art festival.
